Mac smoke and Mirrors Palette and FOTD!

Hey all, hope you're all doing well?!
I've been a bit down lately, because of my hair still falling out, and a few other things and that's why I haven't posted.
Anyway my mum bought me this palette the other day, as a treat to cheer me up a bit, so I thought I'd show you all, and post some swatches :)

I did think that after having two Bobbi Brown Palettes and loving them so much that I wouldn't want a Mac one for a while.
That is until I saw the Smoke and Mirrors palette.

As you can see from the swatches above the colours are very neutral, look very much like the Bobbi Brown Shimmering Nudes palette except there is a very nice beige colour (fire in her eyes) which is very wearable, and I know I will be using this one a lot.
I also love Wide eyed wonder which is a greyish taupe, and great for a sultry smokey look and the texture is very smooth to apply, and very pigmented.
The only one that has a weird hardish, chalkish texture that is harder to apply is Deception, you need to apply a few layers to get the colour to show (well I do, could just be me)?!

These colours are very wearable, and I love them :)
Below is a look I created earlier today. Excuse the crazy weird hair, I was caught in the rain earlier.
Damn rain, we have so much of it here in the UK.

What I Used:
Skin: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Sand 2.
Bobbi Brown Creamy concealer in Cool Sand.
Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Cheek Tint - Sheer pink 6.

Eyes: Smoke and Mirrors Palette

Lid and Brow bone - Fire in her eyes
Lid - Wide Eyed Wonder
Crease and Liner - Black Magique
Lower Lid - Spell No9 Mascara - L'oreal Double extension with Renewal Serum

Lips: Givenchy Gloss Interdit 02

Also because of this crap weather I fancied something pretty that would lift my mood, so I bought a bag from Acessorize.

I love the gold butterflies on it and its just really pretty.

5. Three words that describe you? Shy, caring and funny :P
6. A place you'd travel to? France, Germany and Russia.
7. Ideal date? Patrick Dempsey, lol I wish. I don't usually care about the location as its the person your with that counts. But some of the nicest and most memorable dates have been in parks and cafe's.
8. One thing you'd like to do? I'm going to say something soppy, so here's a fingers down your throat moment. Fall in love again, when I find my soul mate. Bleaugh, lol.
9. If you didn't do what you do, what would you be? I'd love to be an interior designer or a vet.
10. What's the most outrageous thing you've done? Umm I've done a lot of silly things, but I don't think I've done anything outrageous. I can't think of anything sorry.

My Must haves for November 09

I thought I'd just tell you all about some products I'm really loving right now,
and they deserve a shout out.

First off is Elemis' Absolute Eye Serum.

The other week I was really depressed about my dark circles so I called in a little beauty shop in my local small town.
I walked through the door and the lady who works there is 80, but you would never be able to really tell, she looks 60 and she's really young at heart and groovy, and you can tell she loves her job with passion.

Anyway I told her that I have dark circles and as soon as I'd said it, she whipped out this serum from behind the counter.
She told me that all the women she sells it to, love it.

So there on the counter sat the silver box looking at me, as she went on saying how good it was.
I was dreading the price of it, so I eventually asked her how much it was, as I was thinking she was going to say £40.

She told me £25, and it was sold.

I've used it day and night and I absolutely love it.

I feel that my dark circles look lighter now than they did before, I never expect my dark circles to disappear as they are mainly hereditary, but this product has done more for my circles than any other product.
The skin around my eye area also feels firmer and smoother than before.

This serum is a great base for makeup I must add too.

I was actually shocked to learn that Elemis is a British company, I always thought it was French for some reason.
You can find out more about Elemis Absolute Eye Serum HERE.

Right the next product is Roc's Hydra Bio Active Moisturiser.

I found this product for a mere £4 in Savers ( a cheap drug store in the UK) and I snapped it up.
My skin always feels tight and dry through the winter months so I love a product that is moisturising but not greasy, and this product does that.

It is also a great base under my foundation (I use Bobbi Browns Skin Foundation), it also contains a SPF 15 , nourishing Omega oils 3 & 6 and antioxidants.
My skin feels really soft, supple and kinda plumped :)

I think I will be using this moisturiser through the winter months.

Last but not least is one of my favourite products of all time Talika's Lipoclis.

I bought this last Christmas as a treat for myself and was really impressed by the results.
I did run out of it however, and I couldn't afford to buy anymore, until now that is (well I couldn't really afford it, I just scrimped on other things).

When I start using this I always notice results within a weeks use, even though on the packet it says that it takes 28days.
It doesn't give you those huge lashes Lilash gives, but for me this is good enough :)

I have really bad allergies from my pet rabbits, so I'm always rubbing my eyes and losing lashes, but with this they stay stronger and don't fall out as much.

I also get longer, lusher lashes, which makes applying mascara more fun :)

For the good results use morning and night for 28 days, then once a day thereafter.
The mascara wand applicator makes this product really easy to apply from root to tip also, and when rubbing into the roots, makes application feel that you are massaging those roots for extra stimulation to make lashes grow faster.

Growing Hair...

Hey all, just a quick night post.

I've been ill the last few days, I had the swine flu vaccine and it made me really ill, so I haven't been able to post or anything, and because I've been sleeping all day I'm my sleep pattern has gone a little strange.
Anyway, if you have been reading my blog you'll know I've had alopecia (hair loss) and have been trying to get my hair to grow back in certain places and stop falling out any further.

Well about 6 weeks ago I was in boots looking at the hair loss stuff, and I saw a cute little bottle and I thought it looked really girlie, so I took a look, read the contents and liked what I read, so bought it.

And here it is.

It's Schwarzkopf Activ f Dr. Hoting Hair retention care system for women tonic.

On the box it says it slows down and reduces hair loss, encourages hair growth and strengthens hair (great for my fine hair).
It can be bought for £12.99 at Boots and there is also a Shampoo available too for £9.99, but I only bought the tonic.

It has a very sweet smell which I find sickly, sort of like a bubble gum or something, however it is nicer than the male versions of hair loss tonics that stink like a mans deodorant (which is nice on men, but becomes heady and overpowering on women I find).

This tonic is definitely less harsh on the hair too than Alpecin (mens hair loss system) as they contain moisturisers that Alpecin does not.

It contains Carnitintartrate, Echincea and Taurine which I think are the ingredients that stop hair loss and promote new hair growth.

Looking at the ingredients I see that it contains castor oil and I've heard a lot of people swear by it for hair growth and eye lash growth, so maybe that's one of the things that helps.

I really like that this tonic has a nice quite fine nozzle, so its easy to say where the liquid is being applied to.
I usually apply it to the parts of my scalp where the hair has thinned out most, then massage it in.
It can be applied twice a day, but I usually apply straight after washing when the pores are still open (not sure if it makes any difference, I was just trying to be clever).

It's hard to say whether it has worked on me due to a lot of other factors as I've increased my vitamins, started eating healthily, massaged my head with essential oils and used organic shampoos that contain no sulphates.
I have got new hair sprouting though :) Yipee, and less falling out (touch wood).
My hair is also growing quite quickly these days too, I've had several hair cuts in the last 2-3 months, and it just seems to grow back.
I had my fringe/bangs cut 2 weeks ago, and already they have grown out and I need them shaped again.

I hope that anyone who is experiencing hair loss finds this interesting and helpful :)

I've been quiet lately post, with lots of Red

Hey all :)
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, life has been weird and stuff, and I haven't been around the computer so much.

Anyway I went out today and bought my two favourite magazines Glamour and Elle.
I was really excited to get Glamour as they have free Nails Inc polishes with them this Month, Yipeee.

I'm in a red mood lately (probably because autumn is here and xmas is soon), so I bought the Glamour magazine with the Polish in the shade Victoria&Albert, which is a lovely festive red.
Also Elle magazine came with a Free £20 Gift card off Reiss Items :)

On Tuesday I was in Tesco and had a quick look at the nail polishes, and I saw this Maybelline polish in Cherry 505L. It's a lovely Cherry red, and it makes me feel really glam :)

So to make me feel even more glam, I decided today to pop into Boots and look for a Maybelline Stay Put Lipcolour.
So I had a look, and within a second or two I saw the colour that would match my nail varnish, and that colour was Maybellines superstay in Red Passion 510.
It's a lovely vibrant red, and the balm that comes on the other end of the lip colour is really moisturising and glossy.

I've always been skeptical of these type of products as I really hate dry lips, but I've noticed that some lipsticks dry my lips anyway and they always need reapplying too, so I thought I'd just get one of these and just keep using the balm without having to worry about smudges.

So far I'm happy with it :)
